Gumbs Group, LLC is an award-winning full service advertising agency and television production company, offering multi-media solutions for the Virgin Islands market. Gumbs Group has won nearly 20 ADDY Awards, collectively, from 2005 to present, from the American Advertising Federation of the Virgin Islands. AAF of the VI recognizes creativity in advertising. Gumbs Group won Gold and Silver ADDY Awards for their creative jingles, commercials, public service advertisements, local features and documentaries. Beyond these accolades, Gumbs Group is leading the Virgin Islands in the evolution of digital media networks.
Thanksgiving, 2005, Gumbs Group launched its first digital signage system in major grocery stores. Gumbs Group has been operating various digital media network systems for over seven years. We were the first to launch a retail-based system in the Virgin Islands, with screens positioned at major grocery stores on St. Thomas.
Gumbs Group's producer, camera operator, director, and editor, Gloria Gumbs, has a bachelor's degree in communications, specializing in television production. She moved to St. Thomas in 1988, where she held the Program Manager position at WGOD 98FM and later became the Public Relations Manager at the VI Department of Tourism. Beginning in 2000, she developed companies with her husband, James H. Gumbs, Jr., including Gumbs Group, LLC. Their company produced award-winning video productions, including the official documentaries for Magens Bay beach and the Hebrew Congregation of the Virgin Islands; along with an array of government agency and corporate media campaigns.
Gloria Gumbs' broad production responsibilities range from creating ad concepts and scriptwriting to directing and editing. From 2005 to 2006, Gloria served as the president of the American Advertising Federation of the U.S. Virgin Islands (then called Advertising Club of the Virgin Islands) and in 2006, she received the "Women in Business Champion of the Year" award from the University of the Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center. She has used her skills to serve her community. She was the Communications Chair and Board member of United Way of St. Thomas-St. John, and is currently a Board President of Pistarckle Theater and the Praise and Worship team leader at her church. She developed and held the position as producer of the local talk show, "Good Morning VI" which airs on CBS TV2.
